Summer Camp 2026 "Around the World Quest": A Summer Adventure Around the World Through Science and English

Summer Camp 2026 "Around the World Quest": A Summer Adventure Around the World Through Science and English

Date Submitted: 27/07/2026

Every summer, Summer Camp has become one of Sakura - Olympia's signature programmes eagerly anticipated by students. It offers children the opportunity to learn, play, explore, and develop new knowledge and skills throughout their summer break.

In 2026, under the theme "Around the World Quest," Summer Camp took students on a six-week adventure across six continents—Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, Oceania, and Antarctica. Each week introduced a new destination, where students discovered fascinating stories about nature, people, culture, and science through integrated STEM activities, English communication, and immersive hands-on experiences. This unique approach helped them broaden their understanding of the world in an engaging and meaningful way.

With the theme "Around the World Quest," Sakura - Olympia's Summer Camp 2026 invited students to travel around the world, exploring six continents and regions through science and English.

Asia Week – Beginning the Journey in the East

The adventure began with Asia Week. Through social science activities, campers explored the unique cultures of Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. They discovered the art of Origami, learned about the science behind fermentation in traditional cuisine, and participated in a variety of creative activities inspired by East Asian culture.

Students experienced making Japanese mochi and onigiri (rice balls).

Decorating traditional fans inspired by Japanese culture.

The Korea – Vietnam – Japan cultural exchange gave students the opportunity to experience the distinctive traditions of the three countries, including folk games and traditional cuisine, while gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural connections across East Asia.

Asia Week concluded with an exciting field trip to Hòa Phú Jungle.

Through these experiences, students not only discovered the science behind everyday phenomena but also gained a deeper appreciation of the diversity and shared cultural heritage of Asian countries.

Europe Week – Discovering the Science Behind Architecture and Cuisine

In Europe Week, campers explored iconic European architecture and the scientific principles behind construction. They also discovered the chemistry of baking and ice cream making. These hands-on activities helped students connect scientific knowledge with everyday life through practical and engaging experiences.

Throughout the week, students explored Europe through the cultural symbols of several representative countries, including the windmills and tulips of the Netherlands, the culinary traditions of France and Italy, and the afternoon tea culture of the United Kingdom.

Students experienced making authentic Italian gelato.

During the "Bites & Bridges" workshop, students prepared and enjoyed bread and hamburgers. They also explored the origins of the familiar hamburger while comparing it with Vietnam's iconic bánh mì, discovering the fascinating similarities and differences between these two beloved foods.

A field trip to Làng Lá Village marked the conclusion of Europe Week.

Africa Week – Learning from Nature

Africa Week took students on a journey to explore the continent's rich ecosystems, diverse wildlife, and vibrant cultures. Campers investigated the science of sound waves, discovered natural dyes made from plants, and participated in creative challenges that encouraged them to observe, ask questions, and explore scientific phenomena found in nature.

Taking on the role of young explorers during Africa Week, Summer Camp students recreated the wild landscapes of Africa by designing miniature zoo models. Inspired by pyramid architecture, they built unique wildlife reserves that reflected the distinctive character of this legendary desert continent.

Campfire night - the perfect finale to "Continent Discovery"

Americas Week – Inspiring Innovation and Creativity

The adventure continued with Americas Week, where students explored the spirit of innovation and creativity inspired by the United States through a series of exciting STEM challenges. Each activity encouraged campers to develop their own ideas, test different solutions, and refine their designs to achieve better results.

By building and launching water rockets, students discovered the scientific principles of thrust, pressure, and motion while developing engineering thinking and teamwork skills.

Students also took on the challenge of creating bath bombs using baking soda, citric acid, and other ingredients as part of a mission to clean the exterior of a spacecraft.

Ocean Week – Setting Sail Across the Ocean

The Summer Camp journey continued as campers set sail to explore the wonders of the ocean during Ocean Week. Throughout the week, students designed and tested boat models, investigated the principles of buoyancy and flotation, and applied scientific knowledge to solve practical engineering challenges.

Students took on the challenge of building boats for an exciting boat race.

A seashell mirror-making activity allowed students to appreciate the beauty and richness of the ocean.

One of the highlights of the week was the "Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream" workshop, where students observed fascinating scientific phenomena while developing a greater curiosity about the natural world.

Antarctica Week – Exploring the Frozen Continent

The final destination brought campers to Antarctica, a land of ice, snow, and survival challenges. Here, students decoded secret messages, completed an exciting treasure hunt, and participated in a series of simulation-based activities that strengthened their observation skills, logical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

During the Antarctica Treasure Hunt, students completed a sequence of challenges, including making candles to light the frozen night, building compasses to find their way, solving complex puzzles, and recovering "frozen" data files. With every challenge they completed, a new code was revealed, guiding each team across the campus in search of the missing puzzle pieces needed to complete the treasure map.

More than just a treasure hunt, the activity became a journey of discovery, helping campers develop critical thinking, observation, teamwork, and resilience. Sometimes, the greatest treasure was not the final prize, but the valuable experiences and lessons they shared throughout the adventure.

One of the defining features of Summer Camp 2026 was its integrated learning approach. Rather than teaching subjects separately, the programme combined natural sciences, social sciences, culture, and English into every learning experience.

Throughout the camp, English was used as a natural language for communication, allowing students to collaborate, discuss ideas, and present their work with confidence. At the same time, STEM projects encouraged them to observe, ask questions, experiment, and discover solutions independently, turning every activity into an opportunity to develop curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

A Summer Filled with Unforgettable Experiences

Beyond academic exploration, Summer Camp offered students a well-balanced summer of learning, recreation, and personal growth. Field trips, sports, team-building games, overnight camping, and campfire activities created unforgettable memories while helping students build friendships, develop essential life skills, and recharge before the new school year.

The thoughtful combination of learning, play, and real-world experiences created an environment where every student could grow in their own unique way.

Field trips immersed students in nature, combining outdoor exploration, sports, and physical activities to help them recharge and prepare for the new academic year.

After six weeks of "Around the World Quest," students took away far more than scientific knowledge or a deeper understanding of world cultures. More importantly, they developed curiosity, confidence in communicating in English, collaboration and problem-solving skills, and a genuine love of learning through hands-on experiences. These are the essential competencies that will help them thrive in the future.

As one summer adventure comes to an end, a new school year is just around the corner. The lessons learned, the experiences shared, and the memories created during Summer Camp 2026 will become valuable foundations as students begin the 2026–2027 academic year with confidence, curiosity, and excitement for the learning journey ahead.
