[Primary & Middle School] READ STATION APRIL 2026: OPEN A BOOK – OPEN A WORLD
Date Submitted: 21/04/2026
In April 2026, in celebration of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, Olympia Primary, Secondary & High School launched its Book Month under the theme “Read Station.” More than just regular reading time, Read Station 2026 is designed as a comprehensive educational journey—where students build reading habits, develop their thinking, and connect emotionally through a variety of experiences.
Throughout April, this journey is guided by four key elements: Read – Experience – Create – Connect. Each activity plays a role in creating a multi-experience reading journey. As a result, reading is no longer a task, but becomes a natural part of school life.
NURTURING DAILY READING HABITS
At school, a reading culture is sustained every day, with books becoming a familiar part of students’ daily routines. Each morning, from 7:45 to 8:00, students begin their day by reading—a simple habit that nurtures focus and a love of knowledge. Reading spaces are not limited to classrooms, but extend to the library, schoolyard, or any comfortable corner on campus. This consistent practice helps build a lasting reading habit—an essential foundation for lifelong learning.

Books have become a natural part of daily school life at Sakura – Olympia.

Reading takes place everywhere, from the schoolyard and library to corridors and classrooms.
Reading is not only encouraged at school but also actively practiced at home through the “14-Day Parent–Child Reading Challenge.” Over two weeks, moments of parents and children reading, talking, and sharing together became meaningful memories. Through books, family bonds are strengthened, and a love of reading is nurtured naturally and sustainably.

Students and their family actively participated in the “14-Day Parent–Child Reading Challenge.”
CREATING FROM BOOKS AND THE READING PRODUCT EXHIBITION
Alongside reading activities, creative experiences with books at school offer students a fresh approach to reading. From the “Ring the Golden Bell” quiz competition with English and Vietnamese questions, to creative challenges such as designing bookmarks, guessing book titles, and matching content, students engage with knowledge through a “learning through play” approach. These experiences not only help students better retain what they read but also spark curiosity and initiative in exploring knowledge.

From early April, students were guided to create products inspired by books, such as bookmarks, 3D book models, and creative book covers.

Students also participated in various fun and engaging challenges to explore knowledge through “learning through play.”
These creative products were showcased in the Reading Product Exhibition held at the schoolyard from April 13 to April 17, 2026. From drawings and book models to written reviews, each piece reflects a personal perspective, showing how students interpret and connect with their favorite books. This marks a transition from “reading” to “understanding” and “creating,” making reading more meaningful and impactful.

Students’ creative works were displayed at the Reading Product Exhibition.

Each product carries a unique personal touch, expressing students’ reflections on their favorite books.

Under the gentle April sunlight, the exhibition became a meeting point for like-minded souls.
SUPER READER 2025–2026: BOOKS AND LIFE
One of the highlights of April was Super Reader 2026—Olympia’s annual competition for students who love reading to showcase their thinking, confidence, and creativity. From the online round featuring videos on “Introducing Your Favorite Book,” the competition selected seven outstanding finalists for the final round with the theme “Books and Life.”

The judging panel selected 7 finalists to advance to Round 2, “Books and Life.”
At the final stage, words that once rested quietly on the page were brought to life through inspiring presentations. Each student offered a unique performance: some narrated their stories with gentle violin music, others impressed with creative puppet shows, while some embodied characters to recreate stories vividly. Interwoven throughout the program was a lucky draw for all students, creating joyful and connected moments. Notably, a parent representative shared meaningful insights into the role of reading in a child’s development, before the judges made their final decisions.

Each finalist presented their favorite book in a unique and creative way.

The parent sharing offered meaningful perspectives on the role of reading in students’ growth.

Behind every activity is the steady support of parents. From joining their children in home reading challenges, supporting Super Reader entries, to following and encouraging school activities, parents have played an essential role in nurturing a reading culture. The strong partnership between school, family, and students forms the foundation for meaningful and sustainable educational values.
The Super Reader Final marks the closing of Book Month, but the values of reading continue to grow. At Sakura – Olympia, reading is not limited to a single month or program—it is a lifelong journey. Each book becomes a companion, helping students develop independent thinking, creativity, and readiness for global integration. From today’s pages, students continue to write their own journeys—confident, thoughtful, and inspired.
