The World Scholar’s Cup 2025 Journey of Olympia’s Young Scholars
Date Submitted: 03/09/2025
The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) is an international team-based academic competition for students aged 8–18 worldwide. Each year, it attracts nearly 50,000 students from over 70 countries and territories. To claim the championship trophy, teams must progress through three stages: the Regional Round, the Global Round, and the Tournament of Champions held at Yale University – one of the prestigious Ivy League schools. At each round, students are challenged with debating, essay writing, and multiple-choice quizzes across six major academic subjects: Science, History, Social Studies, Literature, Arts, and Mathematics.
With the theme “Igniting the Future”, WSC 2025 once again offered an exceptional opportunity for talented students from Olympia Primary, Middle, and High School to challenge themselves, showcase their intellect, and affirm the power of their critical thinking on a world-class academic stage.
PREPARATION WITH OLYMPIA TEACHERS
To prepare for this year’s season, Olympia launched the WSC Club in March 2025. From the very first sessions, members were introduced to detailed information about the competition and explored the challenging structure of WSC. Guiding the club were not only experienced teachers – who had supported Sakura - Olympia teams to success in past seasons – but also Dương Bảo Kha, a familiar Olympia face at multiple WSC tournaments. He shared invaluable experiences, helping members better understand each round and the opportunities that the competition brings.

FIRST MILESTONES AT THE REGIONAL ROUND
After months of dedicated training with the WSC Club at school and self-study at home, in June 2025, 18 Olympia young scholars from both the Skittles and Junior divisions entered their very first challenge – the Regional Round. Though each student started from a different point and finished with individual results, all of them deserve to be celebrated. The hours of consistent practice, the breakthroughs in Scholar’s Bowl, Scholar’s Challenge, and Team Debate, as well as the steady creativity shown in Collaborative Writing – all reflect efforts worthy of pride.
From June 2–3, 2025, Olympia’s young scholars entered the WSC 2025 Regional Round.

According to reflections from parents, the eight-day journey in Kuala Lumpur brought not only medals but also profound educational experiences: teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of sharing were fostered through every round and activity. A particularly memorable moment was when Bao Kha proudly held the French flag – representing the country of his birth – alongside his teammates who raised the Vietnamese flag, creating a symbolic image that nurtured both national pride and a spirit of global citizenship.
Sakura – Olympia warmly congratulates Duong Bao Kha and his family, and extends heartfelt gratitude to parents for their trust and companionship throughout this journey. These achievements are not only a source of pride for Bao Kha and his family but also an inspiration for the Olympia community to continue nurturing a passion for learning, pursuing dreams, and striving for excellence.
