OPEN DAY 2026: “STEM EXPLORERS - LEARNING WITHOUT BORDERS”
Date Submitted: 31/01/2026
On January 31, 2026, Sakura – Olympia organised Open Day under the theme “STEM Explorers: Learning Without Borders,” offering students and parents a complete and meaningful learning experience. Instead of being confined to traditional classrooms, Open Day was designed as a genuine learning experience, where learning extended into the schoolyard and open spaces, allowing parents to observe firsthand how students learn, interact, and explore knowledge.

STEPPING INTO THE “WALL-LESS CLASSROOM” OF SAKURA – OLYMPIA
One of the highlights of Open Day 2026 was the wall-less classroom model. Experience stations were arranged as outdoor mini classrooms, allowing students to move freely, observe, and participate flexibly in learning activities. Organising learning in open spaces not only created a comfortable and engaging atmosphere, but also clearly reflected Sakura – Olympia’s experiential education approach—learning connected to real-life contexts.
Throughout the Open Day journey, students took turns participating in age-appropriate experience stations, which functioned as “learning stops” within a continuous and connected learning journey.
At the Language stations, students became familiar with Vietnamese and English through communication activities, challenges, and teamwork. Language was not approached as a rigid subject, but rather as a tool for students to express themselves, interact, and connect with peers and teachers.

At the Vietnamese Language station, the lesson began with introductory activities, helping students become familiar with Vietnamese in a real classroom setting.

After that, students were divided into two groups to take part in the “Magic Pond – Letter Hunt” challenge, completing tasks such as fishing for letter-bearing fish and combining the letters to form words as required.

At the English station, Teacher Jodie guided students in learning basic vocabulary and simple English sentences. The whole group then joined the teacher’s challenge to receive rewards. At this station, students were also introduced to Sakura – Olympia’s dynamic and engaging English learning approach.
At the Mathematics station, concepts of quantity, geometry, and logical thinking were brought closer to students through hands-on activities and light physical movement. Mathematics, therefore, became lively, accessible, and connected to real-life experiences.

The Mathematics station began with the game “The Magic Rolling Ball,” where students took turns releasing a ball that rolled through paper cups and landed in a random cup. The teacher then read the corresponding math question, and students answered it, practising mathematical thinking through a fun and gentle movement-based game.

The "Colorful Geometric World" activity helped students recognize and differentiate basic geometric shapes.

The game “Let’s Count Together” was both a teamwork challenge and an opportunity for students to become familiar with counting quantities within a given range.
At the Science & STEM station, students observed Physics and Chemistry phenomena, conducted simple experiments, explored microscopes, and experienced STEM activities connected to daily life. Science learning took place through curiosity, observation, and exploration, rather than merely receiving knowledge.

At the Chemistry station, students experienced making ice cream, learning about cooling effects created by the combination of salt and ice that allows mixtures to freeze more quickly.

Next was the microscope observation area and the experience of testing pH levels using purple cabbage solution.

And finally, the Physics station featured a paper rocket activity, helping students become familiar with the principle of propulsion.
At the Technology & Robotics station, students became familiar with assembling and controlling robots, gradually approaching technological thinking through age-appropriate tasks. These experiences helped students understand that technology is a field that can be accessed from an early age through hands-on practice.

Students learned how to assemble Lego WeDo robots following guided instructions.

After completing the first challenge, students moved to the EV3 Robot Arena and participated in obstacle-course challenges on a simulated track.

After completing the challenge stations, students received a free English proficiency assessment with international teachers from Sakura - Olympia.
LEARNING WITHOUT BORDERS – A SNAPSHOT OF SAKURA – OLYMPIA EDUCATION
Open Day 2026 was not only an experiential event, but also a snapshot of Sakura – Olympia’s daily learning environment. From spatial organisation and activity design to the role of teachers and the active participation of students, all elements reflected the School’s student-centred educational philosophy and international integration orientation.
Through the organisation of Open Day, the spirit of Learning Without Borders was clearly demonstrated. Learning was not limited by classroom space, not rigidly divided by subjects, and not confined to a single learning approach for all students. The experience stations were connected into a seamless learning journey, where students learned through observation, hands-on practice, and exploration.
Open Day also provided parents with the opportunity to directly observe how their children learn and interact within Sakura – Olympia’s educational environment. In addition, parents could take part in a free English proficiency assessment for their children and engage in one-on-one consultations with the academic team, gaining deeper insight into teaching methods and long-term learning pathways at the School.

Through this event, parents and students gained a better understanding of the spirit of unlimited learning at Sakura – Olympia.
As Open Day 2026 came to a close, Sakura – Olympia would like to extend sincere thanks to all parents, students, and the entire team of administrators, teachers, and staff who accompanied and contributed to creating a meaningful learning event. The spirit of Learning Without Borders will continue to be nurtured and spread through educational activities, accompanying students on their journey of knowledge exploration and global integration.
