THE COSTUME FESTIVAL 2025: TOGETHER WE CREATE THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE
Date Submitted: 31/10/2025
In the last days of October, the atmosphere across Sakura – Olympia schools buzzed with excitement as students and teachers eagerly prepared for the Halloween Festival.
In Kindergarten classes, tiny hands focused on coloring pumpkin drawings, crafting witch hats, and creating adorable bat decorations. Every classroom corner slowly put on its bright Halloween attire, full of laughter and anticipation for the big day.

In Olympia classes, students enthusiastically designed decorations and handmade candy baskets with creative Halloween themes. Beyond crafting, they joined in various Halloween games — fun, teamwork-filled, and full of imagination.

Fancy Dress Day “Colors of Fairy Tales”: The Science Magic of Sakura Kindergarteners
The Fancy Dress Day opened a magical fairy-tale world at Sakura Kindergarten. Dressed as fairies, princes, princesses, and little superheroes, the young SOers confidently walked the bright and colorful runway.

But this year, the little ones brought real magic to life! In their “magical laboratories,” they conjured mini snowstorms and recreated erupting volcanoes, with clouds of white smoke rising amid excited cheers. It turns out that magic isn’t only found in fairy tales — it also shines through imagination and a passion for exploring the world around them.

The excitement didn’t stop there. The day continued with joyful activities like Trick-or-Treat and the thrilling Golden Bell Challenge. Every smile and sparkle of curiosity added a new page to this magical story — one where fairy tales and science come together to weave happiness and childhood dreams.

The lingering joy of Fancy Dress Day remains in every child’s heart, reminding them that the world is full of wonder — as long as we stay curious, dare to explore, and keep a heart that dreams.
The Costume Festival and Science Stories of Primary & Middle School Students
Meanwhile, at Olympia Primary and Middle School, the Halloween Festival was filled with the colors of science. Inspired by great scientists such as Einstein, Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, and Newton, SOers transformed into “science heroes” and brought to the “Our Science Story” photo contest vibrant images and touching scientific tales. More impressively, students used recycled materials to express their ideas, spreading messages of environmental protection and sustainable creativity — all aligned with this year’s theme, “STEM Explorers: Building a Green Future.”

Students designed creative classroom spaces and costumes, presenting fascinating science stories for the contest.
After reviewing the submissions, the judges selected the most outstanding works. Yet beyond awards, the greatest reward was the students’ excitement in exploring the world around them — and their growing belief that every “why” opens the door to a new wonder.

First Prize: Sun 1 Class

Creativity Award: Mercury 2 Class

Creativity Award: Grade 9

At the same time, the Trick-or-Treat activity brought a joyful and heartwarming atmosphere as students knocked on classroom doors, shared cheerful greetings, and received sweet treats. Laughter echoed through the hallways, turning the day into one of connection and celebration.

“Halloween Mission” at Olympia High School: STEM and the Spirit of Innovation
At the high school level, Halloween became a celebration of scientific thinking. The STEM Explorers of Olympia High School embarked on a special mission titled “STEM Possible – Halloween Festival 2025.” Inspired by both Halloween and the year’s theme “STEM Explorers: Building a Green Future,” students took on the roles of brilliant minds like Einstein, Marie Curie, Newton, Tesla, and Elon Musk — transforming the hall into a vibrant “science research station.”

Each class acted as a research team, tackling a series of interdisciplinary challenges: presenting scientific-themed costumes, joining teamwork-based Math–Physics–Chemistry games, and participating in the “Academic Trick-or-Treat” — solving science puzzles to earn candy rewards. Through every challenge, students demonstrated the joyful spirit of Halloween while developing the four essential 21st-century skills: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking.

Teams worked together to complete interdisciplinary STEM games.

To earn Trick-or-Treat candy, students had to solve scientific riddles successfully.
From the tiny hands of Sakura Kindergarteners to the creative energy of Olympia High School “young scientists,” Halloween 2025 at the Sakura – Olympia School System became an inspiring journey of learning and connection. More than a costume festival, it was a day for every SOer to play, discover, and awaken a love for exploration. With curiosity and creativity nurtured each day, SOers are writing their own continuing story of “The Magic of Knowledge.”
