The Voice of Olympia Student at the Public Speaking Stage on National Cultural Identity
Date Submitted: 21/05/2025
Congratulations to Nguyễn Hoàng Anh Duy (Class 10/2) for advancing to the finals and winning the Consolation Prize at the 2025 Eloquence Star Competition, affirming a strong and youthful voice in preserving Vietnam’s traditional culture.
In this era of global integration, where the popularity of mass culture and the dominance of technology often overshadow traditional values, preserving and promoting national cultural identity becomes a significant mission, especially for the younger generation. It is in this context that Nguyễn Hoàng Anh Duy, a student of Olympia High School, delivered a thoughtful and impassioned speech at the 2025 Eloquence Star Competition, jointly organized by the University of Foreign Languages – University of Da Nang, and the Departments of Education and Training of Da Nang City, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai Provinces.
The competition theme centered on Traditional Culture, and Anh Duy’s presentation was structured into three compelling sections:
- A reflection on the current state of traditional culture, acknowledging the fading of folk arts and customs in modern life, while emphasizing the efforts of many young people to revive and sustain them.
- An exploration of the vital role and urgency of preserving traditional culture as a priceless heritage shaped over thousands of years, urging immediate action from today's youth.
- Practical proposals to protect and innovate cultural values in a modern context, such as reviving folk activities through clubs, reintroducing cultural rituals during major festivals, and leveraging technology and social media to share and popularize cultural heritage in creative, youth-oriented ways.
By highlighting initiatives from across the country, including folk song clubs in Ho Chi Minh City, traditional Tết rituals in Hanoi, and modern adaptations of the conventional attire by young designers, Anh Duy’s speech became more than a competition entry—it was a call for collective consciousness and cultural responsibility.
Olympia Schools takes pride in nurturing students who excel academically and care deeply about cultural values and social issues. We believe that through such meaningful platforms, students will continue to grow as responsible global citizens, preserving and spreading the beauty of their cultural heritage wherever they go.
